Tim Morris was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 26, 1954 and moved that same year to Washington, DC. Tim lived in the District of Columbia up to the age of seven when the family moved to Alexandria, Virginia, where he lived until leaving for college after high school. Growing up with three brothers, all ending up over six feet tall was challenging for the shorter middle son.

Tim turned to sports early and continued to play football, basketball, baseball and tennis through grade school and into high school. Being an average student, Tim enjoyed other activities at T. C. Williams that added to his educational experience. In addition to rowing on the Crew team, other areas of interest to him included music; he played in the symphonic band through the eleventh grade and community service; as a member of the Interact club throughout high school; and school service; as the president of the junior class and the senior class.

Although his interests were varied, Tim enjoyed sports the most. The exhilaration and challenge of competition on the field proved to be a source of motivation, physical and emotional strength and a true confidence building experience. After struggling through three years of playing on mediocre teams at T. C. Williams, he learned that the 1971 football team would be comprised of the best players in the city, combining the athletes from the three city high schools. After confronting the fear of possible failure and weighing the potential for physical damage that these large young men might inflict; and after receiving an encouraging message from coach Boone, Tim decided to try out for the new Titan football team.

The decision to play on the team was a good one. Tim started every game on the specialty team (Kick-off and return, punt and punt return) and played back up linebacker on defense. As with most of the players, Tim considered it an honor and unique privilege to play on the 1971 Titan football team. The young men were transformed into mature leaders through the encouragement and motivation of the coaching staff and the through the experience of playing with a highly talented group of teammates.

One of the keys to the success was the ability of the coaching staff to focus the entire football team on leadership and winning. The players knew they had a talented group; the question was whether the individual players would overcome their insecurities and distrust in order to play as a team. Obviously, the team accepted the challenges and achieved a small measure of greatness.

After High School, Tim continued his education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VA TECH) and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. Several years of sales experience led to management responsibilities with a multinational solid waste company.

Tim, his wife and two sons live in Durham, North Carolina.
