Jerry Allen Harris
was born on November 19, 1953 in Durham, North Carolina to the
late Freeman Harris and Mrs. Gladys Harris. He spent the first
five years of his life in Durham along with his three brothers
and four sisters. In 1959 his family relocated to Alexandria,
Virginia. He attended several elementary schools in Alexandria:
Charles Houston, Lyles-Crouch and Robert E. Lee. Jerry also attended
Minnie Howard Middle School and in 1969 went to T.C. Williams
High School. His favorite subjects were social studies, history
and art. Jerry enjoyed playing football as well as other sports
as a young boy. He played football while in grade school, freshman
year and varsity in his sophomore year. He played quarterback
and defensive back on the TC Williams High School football team.
In 1971 he was part of the Championship Football Team. He graduated
in 1973 from T.C. Williams.
Jerry participated
in a work study program while attending Federal City College
in Washington, DC. As a coop student he went to Wright Patterson
Air Force Base to work in Dayton, Ohio for two years.
Jerry later returned
to Alexandria, Virginia where he continues to live. In 1976 he
started his career with US Airways Airlines. He is a Senior Administrative
Rep in the Payroll Department located in Arlington, Virginia.
He married his
wife Ramona in 1978. They have one married daughter, Staurynee,
son-in-law, James Samuel Hoover and two grandchildren, Harrison
and Jackson.
Jerry spends
most of his time participating in his ministry as one of Jehovah
Witnesses. He enjoys sharing the Bible with those throughout
his community. Jerry is also a talented artist and has entered
many art shows throughout Virginia. Most recently he was awarded
second place in the Dura Gallery Art Show in Lynchburg, Virginia.
As part of the
1971 Champion Football Team of TC Williams High School, Jerry
was honored to be featured in the movie Remember The Titans
as the Rev (quarterback) played by actor Craig Kirkwood.
This movie will be a legend for all his grandchildren to see. |
